There is an adventure and current opening waiting for a Traveling Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse to work in Rapid City, SD

Estimated Traveler Rates

  • $2008 estimated weekly
  • $56.28 Blended estimated
  • Permanent address must be over 100 miles from facility

Start Date:

  • 5/5/24 (earlier start dates also available)
  • 17 weeks (longer contracts may be available)

Shift:

  • 12 Hour Nights
  • every other weekend/holiday
  • 36 hours

Requirements:

  • South Dakota or compact RN license
  • 2 years PCU experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • Epic experience
  • PCU level RN but mixed acuity unit meaning there will be Intermediate Care acuity as well as Tele and MedSurg
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, Blood product administration, CIWA, drain/tube management, indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management, vasoactive drips, insulin drips - both DKA and non-DKA, cardiac drips (titrating and non-titrating), continuous bladder irrigation, chest tube maintenance; Effective verbal and written communication, thorough physical assessments, strong clinical judgement, professional bedside manner, strong team player, positive attitude, adaptability
  • Drip Titration: most commonly – Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips (will train if traveler has not done these) or other Betablockers or other antihypertensives
  • Pre/post-surgical patients, CVA, seizures, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure with or without the need for hemodialysis, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders and infections, soft tissue injury and minor fractures, and DVTs. Medication administration, titratable vasoactive drips, TPN/tube feeding, and blood product transfusions
  • Peripheral IV, Midline, PICC and central line access, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, drains, and urinary and fecal collection devices
  • Wound care, telemetry monitored patients
  • Post neuro-intervention (preferred experience but education and resources are provided per unit if they have not had this patient type)
